Community Projects
To promote sustainable nappy options and to combat the misinformation and urban myths about nappies Modern Nappy distributions is involved with a number of community projects.
City of Banyule
We are currently working with the City of Banyule to trial Nappy Education to Mothers groups within the municipality to see if this assists in the uptake of sustainable nappy options.
Over the last two years Modern Nappy Distributions and the City of Banyule, have conducted trials in three Banyule Childcare centres. The trials successfully tested the commercial use of Eenee Compostables nappies. Results from the trial have also shown the enormous potential landfill and emissions savings to councils and communities.
The Eenee Project was nominated for two categories of the Sustainable Cities/Clean Beaches awards: The Pam Keating award for Environmental Innovation and Towards Zero Waste. The project was awarded the Pam Keating Environmental Innovation, which recognized and endorsed the work of the City of Banyule and Modern Nappy Distributions for their work and commitment to a green nappy and waste solution.
Darebin Nappy Trial July 2007
In 2007 Modern Nappy Distributions sponsored a volunteer group for the Darebin nappy trial. The project involved disposable nappy users trying modern cloth and 100% biodegradable/compostable nappies to see if they found these products easy to use in comparison to disposable nappies. Participants found that with the right information they were mostly able to swap to more environmentally friendly nappy options, especially during the day. When participants came into collect their nappies we were able to help them understand how to use them and care for them enabling a smooth transition from disposables to cloth.
